Download the extension

1) Look for the generate.TAX VAT Companion or access through this link.
Notes
This extension works with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

2) You need to click on Add to Chrome.

3) You will see a pop-up to Add extension to your Google Chrome extensions.

4) You can pin the generate.TAX extension so it is easier to locate and use.

Using the extension - My Tasks Tab

5) You’ll need to access generate.TAX. Once you open the extension, you’ll see all open tax returns listed under the My Tasks tab.

Info
The tax returns listed here belong to the logged-in user, who can take action on them as either a preparer, a reviewer, or a client.

Using the extension - Copy Data Tab

6) Click the green arrow next to the tax submission to open it.

7) If the return has been submitted, go to the Copy Data tab, and then click Copy Data.

Notes
You will see a successful message that the data was copied with the next step to proceed in the official VAT portal.

8) If you try to use the functionality on a Canceled or in progress VAT return, you will get a failed message since this only works with submitted returns.

9) If you want to clear any stored data that was recently copied, you can click on the Clear Stored Data option from the 3-dot menu.

Info
Once you log in to the official VAT portal, you have to make sure that the copied data matches the entity name, the correct country and the VAT Return period.

10) In the official VAT portal (for example, Malta), you’ll initially see all fields set to 0.00. Click the generate.TAX extension icon, then select Paste VAT Data in the pop-up. Once the data is successfully pasted, the form fields will be automatically populated. You can then click Save as Draft to save your changes before submitting

11) The process is the same for Cyprus — open the official VAT portal, click the generate.TAX extension icon, select Paste VAT Data, and the fields will automatically populate. Then click Save as Draft before submitting.

The screens and process are similar to these two examples for the other available countries.
