New Release: 8th April 2026

New Release: 8th April 2026

This release brings enhanced control and governance designed to help users manage more of their tax workflow within generate.TAX.

It introduces a dedicated Reconciliation module for reviewing the tax control account post-submission and adds the ability to store return tax and submission reference details after a return has been filed.

In addition, we are including Zoho Books as a brand-new integration.

Reconciliation Module: Reconcile the tax control account

The new Reconciliation tab provides a dedicated space to compare the balance in generate.TAX with the tax balance held in the control account of your accounting platform. This functionality becomes available once a tax submission is finalized, helping users verify that their figures align with the source system as of a chosen date.

The module includes a comprehensive reconciliation view with the ability to view all unsubmitted transactions and enter any outstanding balances brought forward. It supports deep-dive drill-downs into transactions, exceptions and other unallocated items, allowing users to investigate the root cause of discrepancies rather than just seeing a summary total. To eliminate the need for offline files, simply click Publish to save a permanent copy of the report directly within generate.TAX.

Integrated activity logs and notes allow teams to record comments and track actions taken during the process. The final report can also be downloaded as a PDF for easy sharing or audit support.

Key Benefits: Reconcile faster with a side-by-side balance view, investigate differences without leaving your workflow and produce professional PDF records for sign-off. By publishing and saving reports internally, you ensure a single, reliable source of truth for the entity's tax records.

Submitted Returns: Store Return Tax and References

To further assist with control, once a return is filed, users can now store the return tax value and the official submission reference directly against the record.  These details are retained within the return record, making them easily accessible for future audits or when tracing filings with tax authorities.

Locate filing details faster, eliminate reliance on separate notes and make historical submissions easier to explain and support.

Later this year, we will also be including an option to add an attachment to the submission.  This will allow the user to attach a receipt or acknowledgement from the authorities.

Zoho Books: A New Integration

Zoho Books is the latest addition to the generate.TAX ecosystem. Users can now seamlessly connect Zoho Books entities from any region and pull transaction data into their standard compliance workflow.  All functionality already available in generate.TAX including the creation of VAT returns has been extended to Zoho.  This release includes support for sales receipts and their attachments, ensuring that primary supporting documents travel with the transaction data.

Zoho Books users may also use the Zoho SSO login to create an account with generate.TAX.

Users Page: New Cards View

The Users page now features a Cards View alongside the traditional list layout. The system remembers your preferred selection, so you can always return to the view that best suits your working style.  The card-based layout is easier to scan, making it ideal for smaller teams or quick management tasks.

This release also includes a number of small improvements and bug fixes including:
  1. A new VAT Number Checker card to your My View dashboard
  2. Fixed some of the filters which were not working correctly when loading the first time
  3. Including an addition out of scope area in the mapping to allow users with multiple returns (countries) to differentiate between returns and avid getting these transactions flagged as exceptions.
