New Release: 28th May 2026

This release improves three key areas of the product experience:

1) a smoother workflow and usability for the Document Capture AI entities,
2) a clearer and more capable Entity page tab layout,
3) and a major enhancement to mapping of returns through new AI assistance to map your tax rates.

AI assistance for Mapping of Returns

Perhaps one of the very few barriers to onboarding with generate.TAX is the one-time exercise of mapping your tax rates to the tax return. To eliminate this friction, we have introduced AI Mapping Assistance to drastically reduce the manual effort required to get up and running.

When AI mapping is triggered, you will see a guided, step-based overlay that communicates exactly what the system is doing in real time:
  1. Reading your tax rates
  2. Analyzing the tax return
  3. Suggesting optimal mappings
  4. Applying the results

This is an example using the Irish VAT3 quarterly return:

This feedback loop is designed to build confidence in the automation, ensuring you always know what is happening rather than feeling like things are just "running in the background."

AI mapping is intended to accelerate your initial setup and help teams reach a workable starting point faster. As always, all AI-generated results are presented for your final review - ensuring you stay in complete control while the automation handles the heavy lifting.  The final human-in-the-loop verification as part of the process is very important.

Improved experience for Document Capture entities

We’ve improved the end-to-end experience for Document Capture entities to make it easier to understand what’s ready, what’s still loading, and where to go next.

Predictable UI States: The Capture Documents area now behaves more predictably while your entity data and scanning settings load, establishing a clearer “ready” state before the full content is shown. This reduces confusion and prevents partially loaded UI states, especially when switching between entities or refreshing the page.

Smoother Transitions: We’ve tightened the workflow between the Capture Documents and Transactions tabs so you can move from captured documents into the transaction review process with less friction.

The goal is a seamless "capture -> review -> action" loop to easily validate your data.

New Feature: Capture from Email

Following the launch of our folder-syncing capabilities for OneDrive & SharePoint earlier this month, we are excited to introduce another highly requested feature: Capture from Email.

You can now capture documents by sending them directly to an entity’s dedicated email address, making it effortless to collect invoices and receipts straight from your inbox (or have them forwarded directly by suppliers). Once received, these documents flow seamlessly into the standard Capture Documents workflow, allowing them to be reviewed and linked through to transactions without the need for manual, one-by-one file uploads.

Multi-currency support with clear instructions on how to process receipts in a foreign currency has also been included.

New Entity page tabs for an improved experience and more functionality

The Entity page has been reorganised into a clearer tab structure so that day-to-day work and reference configuration are easier to find and navigate.

Core work areas (such as VAT, Capture, Transactions, and Reconciliation) are presented as primary tabs, with additional reference/configuration areas grouped separately. This makes the Entity page feel more consistent across different entity types and helps reduce “where do I do this?” moments.

As part of this improvement, tab navigation is more deliberate and reliable, enabling users to jump directly to the right part of the entity experience and keep context as they move through the workflow. The intent is faster navigation, clearer separation of tasks and a foundation for adding more functionality without overcrowding a single screen.

This release also includes a number of small improvements and bug fixes including:
  1. It is now possible to export the list of returns and entities in an excel format
  2. Improved layout for the drawer layout to review receipts
  3. Added more security logs to the user so actions related to scanned files can be tracked
